Hi all,
I am from South Kolkata (Bagha Jatin) and got an internet connection from a local CTO of Reliance Communications last month. They are charging me Rs. 1200/- per month for an unlimited connection of speed "over 200 kbps".
It was very silly of me that I didn't check the Reliance Communications website for the plans they offer. Check this link :: Welcome to Reliance Broadband ::. In the Flat-free category it says that RComm offers 300kbps at Rs. 40 per day. Well that counts to Rs. 1200 per month all right. But the CTO is offering 200 kbps instead of 300 kbps to the customers. Is this right?
And let's not talk about the quality of service. My connection has been struggling to reach the 150kbps mark from the second day and once came down to as low as 40kbps for an entire week. Service is down at least once a day.

On repeated complaints to the CTO about the faulty net speed, the guy says "some clients on our network have their PCs heavily infected with virus and they are choking the server bandwidth." Imagine that for an excuse! They sent their staff (total noob who knows nothing except pinging the server) to check the cable who, after going through his noobish experiments and research, he concluded that "the only problem with the connection is the speed is slow and nothing else". What else do we take internet for?
Well since then I have been hardly getting download speed above 10kBps. So that doesn't deserve Rs. 1200 pm. I have applied for BSNL broadband and I'm sure I'll get better speeds and stability there.
And 1 last thing. Don't opt for Reliance Communications broadband in South Kolkata if you have value for money.
