All of the discussion boils down to one thing that some way or the other all these companies give somewhat the same service. If private sector provides you with better service they will overcharge you to such an extent that you get....,bsnl people will drive crazy as soon as you enter their office. So state of affair is not very healthy, but we have to drag on.

it could be your telephone wiring problem.. make sure that all your telephones are placed after the splitter.. i.e. the telephone cable from the pole should first go directly to splitter and then all other telephones can be connected

Happy New Year 2008.

for my Engineering i need to have the unlimited net connection. I have tried Airtel, Tata Indicom, Reliance. Now i m switching over to BSNL due to cheaper packages ( im in 900 Plus scheme ) and very good bandwidth.

in Airtel, TI, Reliance also the same problems are there. such as disconnections, low speed, surge and sucks. but if you call customer care they will respond you nicely by nice girls voice. but actually no active progress. the problem will be solved after a long time only. i have called once for airtel customer care for my internet not connected. simply that stupids replied that SERVER UPGRADATION IS GOING ON. but actually nothing like. simply they replied. again next shift person from airtel is telling that no server upgradation. see how they are cheating us.

but in BSNL they will not reply you if you want to call. you have to go by person to get your work done. i m following the same. but for me its very rare. i m facing very very less problems compare to airtel & tata indicom.

and my friend is using now airtel monthly Rs 900. and i m also the same in BSNL paying Rs 900 per month. he is getting download speed of 30kBps and i m getting download speed of 60 - 65 kBps. so imagine that which is benefitted.

out of this i have to accept one more negative point from BSNL. they dont have qualified staffs to check your problems. but it doesnt matter for me. coz once i gone to bsnl office to configure my own modem for braodband. they have tried long time to configure but stil they failed. they are trained to configure in bsnl modems only. then i got the settings from them and configured myself and working fine now.

and once i have complained for internet not working. after that my phone line is dead. later i came to know that while checking the net connection they have tested the landline also. while testing they forgttn to put the fuse back. so the lne was dead. very bad.

but in my experiance i have face the same problems in airtel and ti also. the whorst is reliance. but they will not allow us inside. so we dont knwo what hapen actually.

finally BSNL is the best braodband in chennai (TN).

Lemme tell u all this..... Ive been using BSNL for sometime before i changed to Reliance.. Irrespective of the plans, this is what i feel.. BSNL is made for speedy downloads.. All the others may be economical, but u wont hav the joy of downloading one album of songs in 5 minutes!!
But now, even the UL plan has come down to 750 i think.. I used BSNL for about 3 months, and not even one single minute i experienced disconnection.. Now ive decided to change back to BSNL 750 UL plans..

But f course u should pay more and "the state of affair is not healthy"
Its our fault to live in India..

P.S. : I think i dont hav to worry about disconnection problems as lond as my aunt works in BSNL.. Its through her port, that im getting the broadband DOnt be mad Guys..

I too felt wierd of its billing structure and all.. But ultimately BSNL is the thing where u get complete satisfaction of having a broadband connection.. Even i have to wait about two weeks with all the influence im having..
I don support BSNL blankly since ma relative s workin in there.. If I experienced some disconnection sure ill go mad.. But i ve not yet experienced it..

Well to get a good thing you need to spend good money. In the present day world you can get the best for the cheap rates. Airtel is good and they charges just a little more amount of money but still they are worth every amount i pay them.

Did u heared about "Imran's Broadband Helper Utility", according to its author

your service provider can implement a program on server side which can reveal that wheather you are opening some web pages at some fixed duration or not, and if not they often throttle your bandwidth or simply disconnect your connection (downloading a big file using utorrten of fdm is not opening web pages).
this sowtware can help you to solve this problem also, you just need to enable connectivity service under Connectivity Tab and assign some urls to open when you are sleeping.

u shoud try this.

Connection drop is not a new thing. BSNL is a good ISP but these kind of problems are really frustrating when you are in a middle of something important and you experience a connection drop.

I hope that BSNL rectifies these kind of small problems which some day can become big.
