Why is that?
In any case the modem supplied by MTNL (I use their connection) is actually from D-Link. Also last year the modem (similar one) concked off, now had I purchased the modem, I would have had to get a new one. However since it was a rented one from MTNL, they changed it free!

As yogesh said, BSNL modems are insured or they have a replacement warranty. It may be available in other modems too, but its comes here risk free and there's no much difference in speed
