you guys must have come into the dial-up scene either real early, before any appreciable bandwidth was available, or real late after there was too much congestion.
My first modem was a 33.6 kbps model, and I still managed to download 150 MB in a single day. Of course , my phone and net bill ware payed for by the company, but still I managed to download quite a bit in the 12 hours or so per day I used my net.

Seriously, you need to have a lot of patience if you want to work on a dial-up connection. And it proves to be very costly if you use it even for a few hours in a month. Plus, you cannot use your phone for that while.

The broadband connection has brought a revolution of sorts.

I tend to agree, i could not survive on dial up now!

Dial-Up is a history now a day. I have paid a huge amount of bills to use internet in the times when only dial-up connection was popular. I now think after comparing it with the present day broadband that it was a nightmare for me...

Anyways what is gone is gone..... Lets look at the future.

Dial-up was the only viable option then early 2000 and so it was widely used. Then broadband connection was a luxury in India and hence no one used it. Now as broadband connection is just another requirement i think that no one would lik to use dial-up again.
