I am in urgent need of a portable internet connection. I currently use airtel mobile office, but almost my entire travel route is outside edge coverage for airtel.

I would like someone to post recommendations for idea or vodaphone.
Please remember I will be using this on my pc not on the mobile itself. Also, please do not recommend reliance or tata as those are not suitable for my needs.

I need rates, connection stability and other details about the connections.

Any help would be appreciated.

hi anteclimax, i can tell you about Idea connection. It is available for Rs 150 per month for unlimited plan, and you have to use a software like Nokia PC suite to connect to the internet through your pc. Now, about the connection quality, i have observed that when i download multiple file (2-3 atmost) and am simultaneously surfing the web, the net speed is good at 115kbps, but when working on single files (sites) the speed seems to drop considerably to 28-64kbps.

If Airtel doesn't have Edge presence in ur travel route I doubt Idea or Vodafone have it Because they have largest Gsm coverage after Bsnl.
Also you can give bsnl a try they have edge in many far flung areas!
