Anyone using dial-up ever get more than 5kBps? This thread is not for you anticlimax, so stay awaty.

Are you talking about download/upload speed? I think last time when I have used dial up, it was connected to 44 kbs and that is far ahead the speed which you have specified in your post. Tell me if I am guessing something wrong.

I think you missed out the factor of 8, divide 44 by 8 and you are at almost the same speed.

I have used dial up connection once. It was about 3-4 years ago. It's speed was about 56kBps, and sometimes it increased and sometimes it decreased by 2-3 points.

When i used dial-up connection i think i got speed between 2-8 kbps. 8 kbps were very rare, i got these kind of speeds only in the night time but normally i got speeds between 2-4 kbps in the day time.
