I have been thinking about getting a static Ip for myself as I have made plans to host my site on my machine at my place. What do you think. Should I go for seperate hosting or get Static Ip and host my site all by myself. I have a old p4 machine lying with me and which can be used for the same purpose.

I think that would cost you more so having a hosting plan from a hosting company is much better. Anyhow we shall have to have static I.P's for other purposes. A few months back, I had to plan a desktop application where users from all over the country send data mails to update main server and users were purely non-It so I have used static I.P there. Purpose was just make it certain that users click on a single button to perform all updation.

Your PC will have to be on all the time, you will also be reliant on your ISP for uptime, also your site will be slower loading than if you host it on a webhost. Only host it yourself if your site is a very low traffic site. I mean real low. Else host it on a webhost. In fact you could host it on a free webhost and get the best of both worlds. ![]() |
