Some time when I try to connect to the internet, the router is unable to connect till the point I put the phone receiver off the phone and then it connect. I find this pretty strange and it has been happening for over a year now, has any one faced the similar problem?

The problem is with your telephone line. Get the line checked by the mtnl guys. it will resolve the problem!

First ensure that phone instrument is connected after the splitter/filter. If yes then it could be either wiring or filter/splitter problem. I agree with lokesh .... post line stats to have us look better.

The problem might be in the phone line the same thing happened to me as wel, I contacted the customer support and got all the wiring re done, nowe there is no problem there after.

It is very common with MTNL try to adapt the circumstances or just switch over to any other broadband connection, that would be the best way to get hold of this problem.
