Hi guys,

I am considering Reliance Wimax service at Ahmedabad. I already have BSNL broadband connection but due to [B][U]problems not related to speed/uptime[/U][/B] as such I want to phase out the same.

Please provide me some information about the performance of Reliance Wimax at Ahmedabad.

If you do decide to go with reliance I suggest you dont disconnect your bsnl broadband connection for atleast one month... see how reliance wimax fares as I have heard too many bad things about reliance wimax and almost all of them are true to some extent.

Reliance wimax has had issues right from day one..
Upload problem
It takes ages to get an ip assigned when you start the connection which might take more then an hour at times.

Besides that there are a lot of other issues which Reliance claims have been sorted now.

The best thing is to experiment forst and see how it does for you instead of getting rid of bsnl at the same time.

Many thanks. Yes, we are in the same page. I was planning to adopt the same strategy. I am as such eager to try the new technology and I think, this should be technology for tomorrow.

I got my tata wimax connection on the 12th of this month and it worked for 4 hours and since then it has been lying dead... hundreds of calls to tata indicom fall on deaf ears no one has turned up to sort out my problem... The problem is faulty installation and the ariel is not fixed properly and has lost allignment.

There is nothing a customer can do when things go wrong as their customer care is good for nothing.. I tried their nodal officer and she hanged up on me 3 times.

Tata wimax sucks I am still waiting for my connection to be sorted.

I have been using Reliance Wimax now since May of this year. It is not without its problems but I live in an area of Ahmedabad, Thaltej, where there are no landlines. I had BSNL before moving to Thaltej and it was also not without its problems. My family and I depend heavily on the internet for work and school. My wife homeschools our children using curriculum from the US. My experience thus far with Reliance Wimax has been very positive even though we have had a few glitches. They have always been very prompt in responding to our problems. We have two 300kbs unlimited connections and, if you can afford it, it is not a bad idea for when one connection was experiencing a problem, the other worked. We have downloaded several MP3 files and a 3 mb file takes about 30 seconds.

Thanks for the reply. I have applied for Reliance Wimax connection just for trial. it is supposed to be there in another three days. I will post detailed reply regrading my experience.

My tata wimax is working now after tata wimax guy came and fixed the ariel which was not alligned properly and also some issue in the base station was resolved.

I hope your reliance wimax connection turns out to be good and trouble free. Do let us know how it goes..

well i am sorry to say but i am not satisfied with reliance wimax. Though it is better in many terms but servicewise its not satisfactory. Hope anyone can share his experience with reliance.
