I have been using sify broadband which is a cable broadband isp and to be honest hate every bit of it.. from service to customer service. None of their departments are good nough.

I experience atleast one disconnection every couple of hours with no idea when the link will be restored. I think there is some issue with the technology they se or may be they are just not good enough to keep their networks up and runnig all the time.

I have a 256kbps unlimited connection for which I pay Rs1250 per month including the cabel operators maintainance fee.

Sify broadband is not something I would ever recomend to even my enemies

I am waiting for another isp to launch their services here in my area so I can switch from sify broadband as soon as possible.

Do you have MTNL's tri-band broadband service in your area. If so, you can try that. Though the customer service is not very good and the connection refreshes after every 10-15 mins. (you get offline for a few seconds) but still it offers a lot of plans and you will surely get a plan that suits your needs.

IMO, no ISP India is great so we have to live with some problems.

Yeh we do have mtnl in our area but the problem is that the lines are too old and those who have mtnl around here say its worse then sify and an adsl connection depents entirely upon the distance from the exchange and the quality of the pone lines and both the things suck here where I live so I am waiting for reliance or airtel to come here..

sad to hear !! but my friend is using sify for the past 5 years and he doesnt complain so much !! though i hate his plan... unlimited for 500 at a low speed.. i don remember what ?!?

i thought the plans were bad ... but such a bad service, how do they expect to stay in the market if they do this !!

They expect to stay in the market because they have amonoply in that area. If another player comes to that area, instantly their service will improve.
