Wimax is supposed to be a replacment for DSL connections for boradbands...This technology will help in India, as we still do not have a very sound wired infra in place, which limits the wired connections..so if you need a broadband, in a place where there is no or limited wired capacity, you cannot get the connections..The solution lies if Tier 1 ISps can extend this connection wireless to the customer place...Thats where Wimax steps in...It just extends your broadband connection to the "last mile" by point to multipoint connection
You need a subs stn which is linked wirelessly to the nearest ISP base stn which has to be installed in line of site(preferrable)..Rest of it is as same as before ..like that of a DSL
